Valley Lodges owned by Ann & Harry Johnstone are on the edge of the Honicombe Manor holiday village in the Tamar Valley and provide a quiet wooded rural retreat with leisure facilities for families.
Each lodge sleeps up to 8 people with space for 2 cots. Larger parties can be accommodated by booking both lodges as they are adjacent properties.
The bedrooms are on the ground floor, with an en-suite bathroom and separate shower room/toilet. With reversed living accommodation the lounge and dining area are on the first floor with a glazed door leading to a large sundeck. An archway from the lounge leads to a fully fitted kitchen. There is a large sofa bed in the lounge.
Facilities included in the price are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym, sauna, tennis courts & children’s play area. There is also a bar and restaurant, shop and launderette. The wooded grounds are extensive with ample parking. Many other activities can be booked on site including archery, rock climbing and canoeing on the Tamar.
The Tamar Valley is a designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and has recently been recognised by UNESCO as part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, putting it on a par with Stone Henge and the Taj Mahal in world importance. A centre for information and a fascinating place to visit for both adults and children is Morwellham Quay and mine, only 4 miles away on the Devon side of the border.
There are many varied walks, river trips, gardens, and historical houses to visit within the Valley. If you are interested in Railways or just want a day out in Plymouth, experience the Tamar Valley Line crossing the river Tamar over the Calstock Viaduct and see Brunel’s famous bridge.
The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are both approx. 30 minutes drive and both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor are about 15 minutes. The north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon are within easy reach.
