The Old Parish Poorhouse, built in 1744, is a truly delightful cottage situated on the fringe of the Historic village of Winster. Ideally placed for the picturesque Market town of Bakewell and Stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The Poorhouse is full of charm and intrigue.

Each room has an eclectic style to create a relaxing warm atmosphere. With touches from the East and sprinkles of Victorian influence and innovative details, walking into the Poorhouse is like stepping back in time. With 4 double bedrooms, two with en-suite showers, and a master bathroom each with their own special individual appeal everyone will be happy and comfortable.

The Keepers Room boasts a wonderful oak gallery above a Victorian double bed with luxurious memory foam mattress, shower, washbasin and single day bed.

The Quilting Bee Room, a very cosy room, also has a Victorian double bed, washbasin, wicker sofa and a television, overlooking the garden and open country.

The Garden Views, named for its view of the very pretty country cottage garden, also hosts a Victorian bed, washbasin and settee. This is a very light room with a delicate sunny colour scheme that makes it very special.

The Chicken Loft, located downstairs, is also a galleried room. This is a smaller room but very private and peaceful, boasting a Victorian bed under the gallery and a shower and washbasin tucked away in a separate room behind the bed.

Relax in front of the panel surrounded stone fireplace in the spacious and grand principal lounge, which can be used as a fifth bedroom using the comfortable sofa bed.
The Chicken Loft Lounge is a great family room, full of character with an original stone fire surround and a Victorian Range. A beautiful internal arched stone window links the room to a wonderful warm and enchanting kitchen where everyone congregates and where time just doesnââ¬â¢t seem to matter. Extensively equipped, it boasts a 4 oven Aga, handmade cupboards and chairs for your relaxation.

The Breakfast/Dining Room has an open range fire, a wonderful old dresser and an extra large table. Imagine your whole party of 11 people all seated around one table enjoying that special Aga cooked meal in front of a blazing log fire.
Alternatively enjoy an al-fresco meal in the secluded cottage garden.

Welcome to the Poorhouse and enjoy an experience and a holiday you will never forget.
