The four cottages are all part of a 200 year old converted barn and farm buildings arranged around a courtyard. The property is set in 9 acres and surrounded by the beautiful hills and valleys of this unspoiled part of West Dorset, which has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We are 5 miles from the UNESCO Jurassic Coast world heritage site.
Buckingham and Claydon cottages are similar and offer single storey accommodation, with a spacious open plan living / dining area with a fireplace and wood-burning stove. Each has a fully-equipped fitted kitchen.
Both have one large double bedroom with a wash basin and one twin bedroom. The newlyrenovated bathrooms have a W.C., bath and electric power shower.
The cottages have adjoining, fully enclosed south-facing private gardens with patios overlooking a wonderful view. The gardens get the sun all day and into the evening in the summer. Bring your binoculars to watch deer, foxes and buzzards on the hills opposite.
Tanglewood cottage is new for 2009 and sleeps 12 in three double bedrooms, two twin rooms one with low headroom and two single bedrooms.
Facilities include three bathroomstwo with baths, one with a power shower over the bath and the third with a power shower.
The dining room has a beautiful flagstone floor with an Inglenook fireplace and a wood-burning stove. Outside,
Tanglewood has two smaller seating areas and one large area in the orchard with a gas barbeque.
The Farmhouse also sleeps 12 with a king master bedroom with an en-suite shower, three doubles one with en-suite bath, two twin rooms and a family shower room. There is also a W.C. on the ground floor.
With a spacious kitchen and dining area and a comfortable lounge, with an Inglenook fireplace with a wood burner.
Outside, the Farmhouse has its own seating area, with open views to the sea, some 4 miles away and a gas barbeque.
The cottages are rated 4-star by VisitBritain and we are accredited to the VB Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome programmes.
We have Silver status with the Green Tourism Business Scheme and are accredited by the Jurassic Coast Quality Business Scheme.
For older and less mobile guests we are currently waiting for an assessment to NAS M1 status on Claydon Cottage, which is a single storey cottage with an access ramp. The sinks have lever taps. We have a hearing loop for guests who are hard of hearing. Our Access Statement is on the home page of our website.
All the cottages have full self-catering facilities, but on site catering can be provided by local partners.
We have a games room on site, with a pool table and dart board.
Our DVD and book libraries are also in here.
We welcome well-behaved pets.
Walks direct from the House and locally, good pubs, country houses, fossil hunting, museums, art galleries, fishing coarse and sea, riding, archery, Roman and Iron Age forts, Set in unspoiled countryside, we are only 3 miles from the market town of Bridport, and 5 from the Jurassic Coast.
We offer comfortable, well appointed accommodation for families and groups of up to 32 guests.
