A spacious, detached, beamed holiday cottage dating back to the 1800s, recreated by the present artistic owners, offers 360-degree breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The house has a wood-burning stove and a beautiful oak staircase with a minstrels gallery. There are extensive wild gardens with deer, rabbits and pheasants, with plenty of space for outdoor activities. Take time out to explore the beautiful 8 acres of grounds and small lake - a haven for moorhens and ducks. Situated in an AONB see how many follies are on the skyline, created by the local eccentric Mad Jack Fuller in the 18th century. Travel just 2 miles to the picturesque village of Burwash, once renowned for its smuggling connections - hence the skull and crossbones on some of the gravestones in the churchyard - and also marking the northern boundary of 1066 Country being 8 miles from Senlac Field. Visit Batemans, home to the author Rudyard Kipling (NT), or further afield find Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Chalybeate Spring at 15 miles. Several gardens including Sheffield Park, Wakehurst Place and Merrimans are a short drive away. There are good connections to London from Etchingham Station, 3 miles. Shops, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
