Woodlands is a step back in time to long summers of croquet on the lawn and champagne cocktails on the terrace before supper and a glass of brandy by the fire before retiring for the day.

Build in 1905 as a gentlemen's country residence. It was the first house on the Mains Estate and sits at the end of a quiet road ten minutes walk from Giggleswick village. Beyond Woodlands leafy drive the Yorkshire Dales National Park stretches for miles. The enchanting Lord's Wood borders the house to the west, through which Giggleswick Scar, a dramatic cliff of limestone, popular with walkers, cavers and geologists alike is a reachable by foot. The easier going lower footpath leaves Woodlands to the north for Stainforth Falls and beyond - or just enjoy the spectacular views from the terrace over the Ribble Valley to the east.

Woodlands is a large house set in 1 acre of wooded gardens, comfortably sleeping 18 guests in 9 bedrooms, all beautifully restored and furnished in simple early twentieth century style.

There is a beautiful inglenook fireplace in the drawing room, which overlooks the valley. The dining room seats 18 at a 16 foot table or 10 can enjoy breakfast in the large kitchen.

There is a further pantry kitchen with laundry facilities and a sitting room to get away from everyone else.

The bedroom accommodation is fairly flexible, including a doubles, king-sizes, twin, singles and, a kids triple. There are 4 ensuites and 2 further bathrooms.

There is a croquet lawn in the garden and the house is stocked with plenty of books, games, CDs and DVDs.

Your pets are very welcome when accompanied by responsible adults.

From £1,575 to £3,420 per week, depending on time of year.

3 night min short breaks available by arrangement, sorry we are not able to offer short breaks over peak periods.
