visit owners websiteThe Old Castle Inn offers spacious self catering accommodation and is perfect for family groups being only 1 mile from Alton Towers in the picturesque village of Alton in Staffordshire. It is a spacious and unusual house with 5 double bedrooms (easily sleeping 10 plus a fold out sofa for extra guests). It has 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen, a conservatory and 3 reception rooms all filled with unusual architectural features and open fires. The Old Castle Inn is ideal for those wanting large and unusual accommodation on the edge of the Peak District and close to Alton Towers.
Buses to Alton Towers are available from the village. The village sits above the Churnet Valley, and is close to Dimmingsdale with its network of lovely walks and cycle paths, which includes the disused railway line. Alton Castle and the surrounding church buildings, which can be seen from the garden and rear windows of Old Castle Inn, constitute a heritage site and boast original Pugin designs. The village has several fine pubs, many of which serve food and there is also a late-opening mini-mart and post office for basic supplies.
ACCOMMODATION
There are two large reception rooms on the ground floor. Room one has polished floorboards, an open fireplace and exposed stonework. The second reception room has a stone floor, a large stone fireplace, and a feature dining table. There is a spacious conservatory with seating and the french windows open onto a patio area, a sandpit and a garden. There is also the kitchen which has further seating and a Snug/Library room (which may be locked for storage).
The first floor has three bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has polished floorboards and a double bed. Bedroom 2 sleeps two and has a stone fireplace. Bedroom 3 has bunk beds and an exposed stone fire place and chimney breast, a wash stand and partial view of castle. There is also a shower room and toilet.
The second floor has a bathroom with cast iron roll top bath with claw feet and toilet and Bedroom 4 which has a double bed. Bedroom 5 sleeps two in single beds. Mezzanine with seating and castle view.
Hikers, families, pets and cyclists are all welcome.

Baby-sitting and dog-sitting service available by negotiation with trustworthy local family. The house has a good sized safe enclosed garden with seating area and a large sandpit.
