Idyllic retreat on the outskirts of increasingly popular Orford, the Gedgrave Broom is nestled on the edge of a traditional farm completely surrounded by ancient grazing marshes and woods. It is where John Seymour wrote “The Fat of the Land” and is ideal for groups/extended families who enjoy rural holidays, or need to get together to celebrate special anniversaries or events. The large barn in the garden can accommodate up to 40 people sitting down for a formal meal. It is a romantic venue for wedding and birthday parties and offers complete privacy, perfect for all manner of celebrations, with a fully equipped kitchen and large walk in larder.
The Broom is all electric and on mains water.
It makes a perfect base to explore the delights of Suffolk and its Heritage Coast. It is utterly peaceful and private despite being just one mile from Orford with its pubs, shops, coastal paths and busy quay. Bicycles can be hired locally and the Suffolk Coast and Heath’s Path is conveniently close by. Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh are within easy reach by car, and the sandy beach of Walberswick, and Georgian elegance of Southwold are just 40 minutes away.
Many visitors come back each year as the Broom is a unique and safe haven of old fashioned and unchanging charm. Children can play at being Swallows and Amazons, or Famous Fives, and enjoy the freedom of the surrounding wood which is teeming with all manner of birds and wildlife. Available weekly / short breaks, all year round, there really is nowhere else like it in East Anglia.
