Within easy reach is the picturesque town of Ashbourne, the village of Llam, which is settled on the banks of the River Manifold and the beautiful valley of Dovedale. For a fun-filled day out, make the short drive over to Alton, home to the popular Alton Towers Theme Park and Waterpark, as well as the Dimmingsdale Valley for woodland strolls. Venture further afield, where you can enjoy a wealth of walks and cycling trails in the magnificent surroundings of the Peak District National Park, with plenty of caves and peaks to climb offering exceptional views. Embark on your next adventure to the Peaks with a stay at Betwixt Cottage.

Rocester is a charming settlement on the border between Derbyshire and Staffordshire, situated on a triangular plot of land between the Churnet and the Dove rivers. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book, and its location is today marked by the remains of a Roman fort. The famous JCB factory is located in Rocester, and the company has landscaped the area to create beautiful walking paths through the site and the nearby park. The Fossor is the most impressive of these because it is constructed entirely out of digger parts and thus serves as a potent symbol of JCB. Rocester marks the midpoint of the Staffordshire Way, which spans the entire county, and the beginning of the Limestone Way, which travels all the way to Matlock. In addition to Rocester's proximity to the charming market town of Ashbourne, the family-friendly theme park of Alton Towers is only a short drive away. From Rocester, you can easily travel to the Staffordshire and Derbyshire regions of the Peak District National Park, where you will find historic houses, market towns, moorland, rolling hills, and valleys.
