The town is in the perfect location to explore the North Pennines AONB, following the flowing River Tees over to cascading water features including High Force Waterfall, Gibson's Cave, Cauldron Snout and Low Force Waterfall, surrounded by an enchanting leafy forest for adventurous rambles. Walkers who enjoy a challenge will love the wealth of rugged peaks, tall fells, and lush moorlands, hike, stroll or cycle up your choice of High Cup Nick, Hilton Fell, Mickle Fell, or Fendrith Hill.
