It also has a hot tub and a sauna, the latter of which we didn't use but kept meaning to! The garden was perfect for my dogs, one of which is blind and she loved lying out in the sun on the grass in her own little world! I brought loads of stuff with me as I didn't know what would be left in the house but actually, the owners and managers had pretty much thought of everything. Lovely comfortable beds, very cosy lounge area, towels and bedding supplied and there were even some dog bowls there which I didn't use as I had everything with me. My poor car didn't need to have been as overloaded as it was in the end! Would thoroughly recommend Valley View - loads of nice pubs and eateries all within a 10-15 mins drive, gorgeous beaches and scenery - just a really fabulous place to be. The manager Kevin and his wife Jackie live very close by and offered assistance, a very warm welcome and a surprise little gift package when we arrived - it's those little touches that mean everything.

The house itself is amazing. Beautifully positioned with stunning views across the valley. Tastefully decorated throughout and very homely. The beds were extremely comfortable, the bed linen was on a par, if not better than some top hotels we’ve stayed in. The towels were thick and all colour coordinated each bathroom/bedroom. The kitchen was very well equipped and the washing machine and tumble dryer came in very handy after wet walks along the beach. There is plenty of seating inside and out for everyone and ample garden space. The fire pit and BBQ, whilst only used once due to weather, was great. We didn’t use the sauna, which is situated off the ground floor bedroom but made very good use of the hot tub, even in the rain! The hot tub is maintained by Kevin three times a week. There are plenty of DVD’s (although we didn’t watch any as took a Fire Stick with us), books and games at Valley View to keep everyone occupied. We absolutely loved being able to have fresh hen and duck eggs every day, which are collected and kept just outside the property and money can be left in an honesty tin along with extra logs and kindling if needed for the woodburner and fire pit. Parking was ample. We had two cars due to the amount of passengers/luggage and my Fiat 500 was not touched for the whole week, mainly due to passengers and comfort when going out, but also because it’s very steep and windy all around this area. Our family car is automatic and managed it very well but just be mindful if you have any mobility issues. Whilst the weather wasn’t on our side for most of the week, we still managed to get out and about and enjoy the sights. A trip to Ilfracombe Harbour and seeing ‘Verity’ is a must and taking a trip up to St Nicholas’ Chapel and seeing the history there. We went for dinner at Antidote in Ilfracombe one evening which is a Michelin restaurant and highly recommended but booking well in advance is essential. Woolacombe beach and Saunton Sands are sandy beaches which stretch three miles each and are breathtaking (would look even more stunning whilst the sun was shining I’d imagine) and it’s definitely a surfers paradise. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed these beaches and the sand dunes. Hele Mill for cream teas should definitely be on your list. The miller and his wife are very hospitable and the miller entertains all guests with puzzles and talking about the mill. The millers wife bakes all her own cakes and scones with the flour from this working mill. The history is amazing. Watermouth Castle was lovely, though rather eclectic, and remember to bring lots of loose change for all the old machines they have there. Outside the gardens are beautiful and the rides they have are mostly suited to younger children, probably under 10 I’d say. We would highly recommend staying at Valley View. Kevin and Jackie were very helpful, ensured we had everything we needed to make our stay the best it could be - so thank you so much for that. Jackie even let our youngest collect the hen and duck eggs, whilst Claire who has horses in the field next door, let our daughter pet them and talked to her about them (she now wants one!). Everyone was very friendly and we were quite sad to leave. We will hopefully return. Huge thanks to Kevin and Jackie for your hospitality, your hard work in making our stay a pleasant one was much appreciated.
