In here, you can look forward to relishing in your loved one’s company at the dining table as you tuck into your meals, accompanied by a special tipple before kicking back on the sofa to tune into the TV, with the crackle of the woodburning stove setting the ambiance and the complementing exposed beams perfectly framing the room. At the end of each action packed day, sleep is sure to come easy in one of the two double bedrooms, both offering a refreshing colour palette and good storage space. During a balmy afternoon, look forward to spending time within the spacious garden, where table and chairs offer an alternative spot for dining and the large lawn is ideal for letting your canine companions roam. Better acquaint yourself with your surroundings further with a leisurely stroll into the centre of Tre'r Ddol, where you will find a superb community-run shop, Cletwr, where you can pick up local produce or any last minute essentials, whilst the pub offers a good menu for the evenings where you do not feel like cooking, or you can find Ynyshir, a Michelin Star restaurant, just a 4 mile drive away. Alternatively, venture to Machynlleth, where you will find a larger selection of shops and eateries, before stopping off at the RSPB Ynys-hir, the setting 3-years running of BBC’s Springwatch nature programme, with more bird watching opportunities found at Dyfi Osprey project, with the pretty Dyfi area designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Alternatively, head towards the coastline to discover the seaside resort of Borth to spend a summer’s day lazing on the shoreline to catch a glimpse of the exposed remains of a forest, which is estimated to be over 3,000 years old. The property is very well situated for road and mountain bikers, with Nant yr Arian only a 25 minute drive away, and Coed y Brenin less than 1 hour away. Travel slightly further along the coastline to Aberystwyth, which is home to a bustling town centre with lots of lovely independent shops and a colourful Victorian promenade, as well as being home to National Library of Wales and Kings College, the place where Prince Charles stayed when he was studying in Aberystwyth. Other attractions within the surrounding area includes the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve, the Falconry Experience and the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir, providing great walks and fishing opportunities. Cysgod Y Coed is a wonderful retreat to call home as you explore this wonderful part of Wales.
Tre'r Ddôl is a small village and community lies within north Ceredigion, between the towns of Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. Within the small village, you will find a community-run shop of Cletwr, a cafe and a pub serving food, making a perfect base for touring surrounding Wales. Nearby Machynlleth hosts an array of attractions and amenities, and offers access to the national park, where you will find a plethora of walking opportunities.

We met the cleaners when we arrived and they were so helpful with recommendations of places to visit. The cottage was very clean and well presented. (I really loved recalling memories of Posy Simmonds contributions to graphic literature). The location was spot on for us. Walks from the house; with steeper climbs than we are now used to, living in Lincolnshire. (We once used to walk around Huddersfield and the Calder Valley with child carriers and pushchairs!) Loved visiting the Osprey centre, the Red Kite feeding and RSPB reserve. Had a train trip to Barmouth - would highly recommend. Aberystwyth is lovely. Bought some excellent honey, pies and pasties from the Saturday 'market'. We went Lindy Hop dancing with the local group on Tuesday evening and they were very welcoming and accommodating. The local village shop is well stocked and friendly. Driving around this part of Wales is lovely. The 20mph sections are really not an issue here (obviously, I can't comment on other areas) but they seem to be sensible and appropriate. The only down side was we felt guilty putting on the electric radiators and we really would have liked to use the multifuel stove, but it seemed like all the shops had given up on wood at this time of year. (It was unusually windy and relatively cold as everyone will be aware this year). It would have been useful to have a stock of wood to use (and pay for). Thanks though. Very clean, well equipped, friendly host, lovely safe garden for dogs, parking and smart TV were a bonus. Village had a great pub and good community shop. Beautiful Borth beach was a short drive (very dog friendly). Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Silver Mountain, Aberdovy all close by. The biggest problem now is the 20 mph speed limits which are going to ruin Wales. Getting anywhere has become a huge ordeal; whatever Google maps says add 25% to your journey time. In addition budget for extra fuel costs as most cars don't operate efficiently at 20 mph in 3rd gear as well as producing higher emissions than normal running in 4th gear at 30 mph.
